Matt McKeen Interview!

1) Intro:
My names Matthew J McKeen, I been riding for 10 years, sponsored by Addict, Boxes Ltd, and Eagle Wheels.

2) What is your favorite thing about scooter riding?
That I can haul ass like I'm on a bike but still be doing skateboard style tricks, perfect mix between both.

3) What is you least favorite aspect of the sport?
This whole perception that people have about scootering, that it's just for kids and crowds up skateparks. I want to see kids grow up and start getting gnarly. We still haven't reached this new level of riding yet. I know scooters are capable of so much crazier shit.

4) Everyone knows Addict has been filming for a long time now for a video. How is your part coming along? Any idea when it should be finished?
It's going good, we had a couple set backs, like on of our hard drives getting stolen along with a camera, but we actually started putting the rest of our footage together and realized we had more than we thought. My part is pretty much done, I think maybe one or two more hammers and it'll be good to go. I think we're aiming for like March.

5) Who were your inspirations when you first began riding? 
I watched a lot of NBS videos back in the day, for all you kiddies that was old legit razor videos. I rememeber being super hyped when NBS4 came out, Chris Daigle was so gnarly for that time. And then all those old Philly crew videos, when dudes like Tim Muller and Sean Griffen were riding, Anarky 2 was real badass. Then I met a local dude named George who kinda put everything into perspective for me cause he was the first dude I saw hitting actual handrails and doing lines.

6) What do you like most about Addict parts?
That they're sooo light but strong at the same time. I haven't actually broke a part yet, I just switch to a fresh one when I think it's getting weak. I'm not trying to pull a Tom K. You can kinda start to tell when the parts are getting week cause they have a little give to it, they'll probably bend before they crack.


7) As seen in some of your videos wee see you riding a skateboard. Who is your favorite skateboarder? Why?
Ooo that's a tough one, there's so many haha. I don't have one favorite. But dudes like Brandon Westgate and Grant Taylor are sick cause they mob at stuff, Dylan Rieder for being super steezy, and Figgy for killing rails.

8) What scooter rider and scooter videos are currently getting you stoked?
I just chilled with Chema when I was out in Cali and that dude is fucking gnar, I'm pretty hyped on him cause he's got a style like no one else's. That's really important. I think Feeny and Monky are definitely on the come up. Also the Friendly boys from Aussie get me really stoked too. And of course, watching the other Addict riders.

9) Tupac or Biggie
Biggie, I can't stand Tupac's voice haha.
