Nick Donatelli Interview/ The EMP
1 ) Intro:
Nick Donatelli, 19 years old from Corona CA, been riding for about 6 years now and sponsored by Scooterzone and theEMP.
2) The EMP. Tell everyone what it is all about.
TheEMP is a Clothing Company me and my good friend Bill Hedrick started a few months ago. We are all about bringing a cleaner cut and more stylish look of clothing to the scootering scene, that anybody could wear where ever.
3) What are your goals with the company?
Our main goal with this company is push the clothing scene out of the printed scooter parts on the shirts to shirts that have a more mature look that you can wear out to parties, kickbacks, school, and the skatepark to look fresh while wearing a scooter brand clothing shirt. We also want to bring out the underrated riders in the sport to have an opportunity to shine instead of being overlooked by a kid doing flips.
4) Who is currently sponsored by The EMP? Are you stoked on your roster?
Our team is BANGING, we got Robert "Monky" Mcmoran, Jon "Lil Jon" Aglialoro and Mike Montgomery. We are beyond stoked about this team, I've personally known Monky for years and he deserves his spot so much. Then with Mike and Jon, they were my team mates when I was on Lucky and they were just so beast I had to put them on.
5) What is your favorite thing about scooter riding?
Has to be all the gnarly seshes we have when we gather 4-7 other riders and go street riding or hitting up parks.
6) What got you into starting a clothing company?
I've always wanted to start a clothing brand, but never really thought it was possible until a couple months ago my buddy Bill Hendrick and I were talking about it and decided to just go for it. At that time we were talking about how there wasn't really any legit clothing brands trying to push the scene out, so that really gave us the urge to do it.
7) Where do you see the sport in a couple years?
It's hard to say since its grown so much in the past three years that it can keep on growing and blow our sport up into the Dew Tour or the X Games. Or it can take a slower time and get us into those competitions and recognition in 7 years, but I our sport will continue to grow no doubt.
8) If you could ride with anyone who would it be? Why?
OG Will Branson no doubt. Back when I first realized you could do tricks on scooters I went on Youtube and typed in scooter videos and his popped up and got me into riding basically. Would be so crazy to meet and ride with that guy or Thomas Obadia, "Bibito" that guys crazy and was one of my biggest inspirations.
9) You get one full day with any celebrity. Who would it be and what would you do all day?
Jwoww from Jersey Shore. Go take her out on a nice date, ya know? Then off to the clubs and party and shizz, then grab some dessert and smash...hahaha.
10) As seen way back when you were on Lucky you took a really hard hit to the head. Tell us what you remember and what that was like.
Well I dont know I took a lot of slams haha, but that day at Diamond bar I was with Josh Toy, Kody Mcqueen, John Radtke, Chris Gascoigne, Tyler Wheeland, and Nick Darger. We were off searching for spots that day and found a 6 block with my name all over it so I went up to the set and checked it out and just went for it. Sketchy part was the run up was totally side ways so I would have to turn right before I hit the set. So that is the reason why I over rotated and got a concussion and 17 stitches to my eyebrow. But really the run up wasn't even phasing me I just wanted to get this done for my part for the first clover. I was kinda shakey riding up to it and a huge bright light hit and I just remember waking up on the floor having everyone looking at me and got the most massive headache. Then Tyler showed me the footy of what happened and I was just in shock like damn that just happened. Till this day I really don't like watching the fall, gives me the creeps.
11) Any shout outs?
Ohhh boy haha. My partner/best friend Bill Hedrick, my designer/ good friend Stefan Brandow, Nick Darger for being a homie/filmer/editor, all of Scooterzone, my Mother and Father, Steven T, The EMP riders, my brother Anthony, Kingsly and all the homies I ride with, you all know who you are! And you for the interview, thanks man.
